Alfie at the vet

Just had Alfie to the vets as i noticed there was some blood in his urine this morning. Managed to get a urine sample from him at the vets and after tests was told there were crystals in it and traces of protein along with some blood.
Vet said that it could be an infection or caused by his diet being to high in protein. Alfie is on quite a high protein diet as he is so active and i find his weight dropps very quickly if he is on a maintenance diet. We have been given a weeks course of Noraclav tablets 250mg some meta cam to reduce swelling and a 2kg bag of Royal Canine urinary canine. We have to go back next Thursday with a fresh urine sample for more tests hopefully the results will be better.

Hi Louie poor Alfie, I had a similar problem with Amy a while back and read up on it, Cockers and Schnauzers are predisposed to these problems, this is a link you may find useful ....

Hope Alfie will be better soon.

Thanks everyone, and Minni thanks for the link. The vet showed me the sample we got from Alfie under the microscope and it did look similiar to the first diagram, vet said that the purple tinge was the blood
