Hope Beau is feeling better. Our eldest picked up something a long time ago - he came back from a walk one day and immediately his muzzle came up in large hives and then rapidly became open sores. The vets treated us for one thing which did absolutely no good at all and then we ended up bathing frequently with Hibiscrub and that helped. The vets thought it was either a hedgehog or bracken that had caused him to react like that.

Keep us posted on how Beau is getting on.

Regards, Karen

Beau is getting better, but is still very uncomfortable and sore. We've just got to carry on as we have and hope it clears up soon...

An update.... Its not looking good.

Beau went downhill yesterday. He was very quiet all evening apparently, and then when he very gentle brushed his face against my mums arm he ran around the house screaming in agony - obviously very, very upset. She took him straight to the vet again and they are very concerned. They admitted they dont know what is going on as it just doesnt seem to be improving. They took some samples, results will be in tonight when he goes back. But at the moment it is not looking good. They gave him steroids abnd very strong painkillers so he was pretty much out of it last night so he got a good rest anyway. But he's very sad again today

Fingers crossed the samples show something...

Perhaps, puppy head gland disease, strangles/juvenile pyoderma? It usually affects young pups but can affect adults too, does this look anything like what Beau has?

Dawn - that looks awful!! But no, not like what Beau has.

I dont know how to descibe it other than each of the hair pores (follicles?? whatever they're called!!) all around his whiskers and on his chin is just oozing blood almost constantly now. It is not scabbing over and the hair isn't coming off at all. Also, his eyes are now bleeding from the corners i think my mum said... The vets are well and truely stumped...
