BC's

MUST be able to herd sheep without any training as it's instinct

Must be good with kids, they look the sort

Are happy with a ball chase and can be forgotten then till the next day

No real training needed as they are smart dogs and train themselves

Siberian Huskies - People often think..........

They are bigger - I would be rich if I had a pound for everyone who has said, "Aren't they small - I thought they would be bigger than that!"
They are vicious - like wolves (a slander on both sibes and wolves).
They are not good with children - I don't know a breed which is better with kids of all ages.
They should all have blue eyes - only a relatively small proportion have blue eyes.
They aren't intelligent and are not easily trained (probably one of the biggest mistakes of all - they are frighteningly intelligent and easily trained - whether they will obey you once trained is a different issue!
The biggest and most dangerous misconception of all - they can be let off lead just like any other dog - I hate to think how many sibes have been killed on the road or by a farmer's shotgun because of this particular misconception.

Basset Hounds

They are lazy and don't like excercise - I wish someone would tell that to the the Bassets I've ever had. Will do an hour's walk easily and will still have enough energy to play fight for the rest of the day.

They are friendly with everyone - I think toleration more accurately describes mine and not even that if they are male and come to the door and they don't know them. Harvey is not remotely interested in people on our walks, positively ignores them.

Not a good guard dog - see above! Plus his bark is extremely loud.

As for being smelly, prone to obesity - I couldn't possibly comment!

Greyhounds

They're nervous, highly strung, would rather eat your yorkie than look at it and require mammoth amounts of exercise. The first three depend on upbringing and socialisation the same as any other breed, the last one.. No.

Oh heck!

The main one is 'they're stupid' and I still haven't got tired of putting people right.

Impossible to train

Because they're the 'disney dog' they must be good with kids - granted they can be, but like all dogs, not always (Takara doesn't particularly like kids but isn't bad with them)!

Need loads and loads of exercise - I exercise Takara two - three times a day, Eddy one- two times a day usually - they can do loads of exercise but don't need loads of physical exercise if they're kept mentally stimulated.

JRT's -

Ankle biters - Not this one, and some can be as much as any breed can.

Yappy - Only if he thinks someone is coming near the house, that's his job.

Snappy -Never had a JRT who was this.

'I don't like little dogs, I like a dog to look like a dog' - Out of my two Tonto is the one with the courage and brains. He'd run rings round bigger dogs, in fact he does!

NI's -

OOOOooo she looks scary - True she 'looks' scary, maybe, to some. But she's def not. 'Soft as rice pudding' should really be in her standard.

Oooo what a lovely coat - Yes but you won't be saying that when it is everywhere, all the time.

Oooo a husky! - Nope. Stick her next to one and you'll see a big difference.

For me its,

Thats a fighting dog (Diesel is scared of the cats )

They are vicious, (none of my pei's have been aggressive)

Not good around children (i beg to differ)

Not good with cats (not if brought up with them and taught at an early age)

Dont like other dogs (always ready for a play)

Lots of people have asked if we have to put cream on his skin because of his wrinkles.....er.....No!

He's ugly (ok, a matter of opinion, just not mine)

They're from Japan (Close )
