Which are the most expensive breeds to insure? (Prices from 2nd company now up)

Ever asked yourself that question? Maybe you're just interested in knowing how the cost of insuring your breed compares to other breeds?

Well ponder no more as I have spent the last few days getting quotes for every breed in our Dog Breeds section and built up a list

**EDIT: See update for second company prices.

Well, the prices quoted bear no relationship to what I pay for my three.

A total of £96 p/m for 2 clumbers and 1 springer. £35 each for the clumbers and £26 for the springers all on the same policy.

What level of insurance are you getting quotes for as this makes a vast difference to the resulting cost?

Steve

Hi Steve, the actual price paid will depend on other factors, most likely your postcode.

However, I find he guide a very useful indicator and lets us know which is the most and least expensive to insure.

Thank you for posting.

About right for the Bernese mountain dog.

Although I must say Ollies insurance was with Direct Line cover up to £4000 all the usual extra bits advertising kenneling in emergency etc., and that was £25-29 a month.
Customer care excellent.

He was with Virgin up till Sept 2010 and that was aroud the price Azz had found it went up from what Direct Line quoted but it was more cover up to £7000 but we had to make a couple of cut backs due to redundancy.

So higher insured level which is what you really need for a big dog bigger premium.

Indeed, there are many factors as well as postcode, excess selected, life cover for illness etc

Wow that's brilliant, nice 1 Azz!!

Did you miss Shar Peis or am I blind? I once heard they're the most expensive dogs to insure (as well as one of the breeds that are often rejected for cover by a lot of companies!)

Not surprised by Akita, pretty high, and we've proved why in this house!

Steve
It's the budget level of insurance for a 3 year old dog.

Very interesting - thank you for compiling the list!
