A few ppl i know, who have gone too look at puppies, say they were appauled at some breeders, as they had several dogs, now some breeders keep their brooding bitches in cages and only take them out to feed and let them pee, i myself find this concerning, there is one lady who has several cages stacked ontop of another, a wall long and nearly ceiling high,, how can they get away with this? too me i think these breeders are in it just for the money, yes they know about their dogs, they do all the testing etc etc,,,but is this the way dogs should be treated, i think NOT, ok this may not be a puppy farm,,but surely the way these dogs are treated it is just as bad....anyway your veiws would be great. Also i think that the rspca should inspect breeders and ensure they are all being kept in a loving manner,,not like money making machines.

Hugs Loz x
I would say don't buy a puppy from someone who keeps their dogs in cages, if people don't buy their puppies they will have no market for them.
If the bitches are given so little freedom/lack of exercise/ attention there is a good chance the puppies may not be very well socialised either.

I think that is terrible but sadly I doubt the RSPCA would/could do anything as long as the dogs are in good health, maybe they can now with the new laws coming in2 place...

I would report the breeder regardless.

Any breeder who keeps their dogs in cages, kennels or outdoors imo can't consider themselves to be a good breeder

Inca you say the breeding circle is small, how come someone who breeds in the way i explained can be recommended by another breeder? but then i guess they must breed the same way,,i was very very impressed with the lady i got Kc from, she had 10 dogs, and all had the full run of the house, playing and chewing on something they should'nt,lol only saw 2 cages where they are put if ill. They were rolling on the grass and then jumping up on the furniture,,in other words,,FAMILY members and pets.

I just feel saddend for these dogs who are shut in little cages all day ,,day after day,,if only the breeders are kept like this for awhile may make them think.

agreed but any breeder worth a salt and would not recommned such a person I think we had a conversation once about those who to avoid and those any good so that just proves my point that word gets round real fast about bad breeders....and credit is well given to good ones

my dogs are kept outdoors, with a huge shed, and there own kennels with under floor heating, and heat lamps when the weather is exremly cold, and i consider myself a good breeder, all my animals come first there pets,if i had no food in the house and the dogs needed something theyd get it before us,i love all my dogs like my kids, they all have there own needs,I DONT KEEP THEM IN CAGES,there well socialised, whats the problem of them bieg kept outside,i know of so called animal lovers who keep there dogs INSIDEin cages too small for them24/7 is that the way they should be kept as long as there inside?

I also know some big people in the show world who keep dogs kennelled all day and night except for excercise and grooming, which to me is as bad, but unfortunately this is not a rare thing in the dog world. They are not kept as pets they are there business. It happens and i don't think much can be done as long as they are fit, healthy and fed. Its sad really.
Maybe those people should be kept in cages too and let them out only for their toilet duties!

I personnally think that a dog should enjoy itself ... i can't help myself laughing (internally of course!) at people who show their dogs and are with their brush in hand keeping brushing the poor dog ...

I would love to show my dogs but it would be more to have fun with them than anything else ...

Lozzy _ I don't know if it's allowed, I suppose there maybe libel laws to consider, but why not post the breeders name on here. If the dog world is a small world it might have some effect.
