It all depends on time, size of house, size of dogs, and the big one is finance. we have 10 dogs in the house and 5 cats. Plus we are getting another dog end of the year. When i moved here we had 11 dogs but sadly he died at 15yr old.

I think the breed of dog plays a significant role in the number you can keep, in a house situation, I once had 4 Staffords, it taught me a lot about the breed, mainly not to have more than two, which I have now.

I have two staffys and I will definately be adding to the family by *at least* one more- dont think I would personally have more than 4 though - that may be a bit too much

4 works well in our house as Cassy plays with Ruby all the time, and Harvey hangs out with the pup as she's still small enough for him to put her in her place. Once she's grown up Harvey will proberbally go back to being a loner

He tries lel and plays for a while but he thinks he's an Apha male with his harem of bitches and it just ain't happening,

Cassy is top dog and he's a bit thick and forgets this so he gets put in his place quite alot by her, the other's don't care who's in charge so things tick over smoothly for them.

He cann't beat em, they won't let him join them so he just goes to bed
