What a great story! Your link doesn't take you directly to it. I think this one does:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yvonne_(cow)

Yvonne is a brown-white cow that escaped from its farmer in Mühldorf, Germany and caused a lot of attention in the media in 2011 after she had kept hiding in woods for many weeks. Farmers, police and animal rights activists were unable to find and capture her.
I am going to read ALL about her now!

And it's a MOVIE too!

Based on the true story of Yvonne, a cow, who on the way to the abattoir in the summer of 2011, escaped, spending 92 days evading capture, finally gaining her freedom and reuniting with her son. This is her story, told from her point of view in a live action / animated feature film.

Oh I am so glad you told us about this! I really want to see this movie now! They say it will be out next year?

Hi Lynn
believe me, they are really very friendly
my dad was visiting me the very first time there, getting to know them and also as a stranger, they were the same friendly to him
not shy, just curious as cows always are and friendly

the only thing...!!!

...don't mind "kisses" of your Bernese
BUT! mind "kisses" of a cow!!!

they are soooo slimy, afterwards you really need a shower!

but actually nothing better than licking a cow your calves/legs, arms...
their tongues are that rough, you never could get a more naturally peeling for to get a soft skin!

I can believe that - they once licked the fresh paint finish off one of my boats while it was moored up lol!

I woke to the boat rocking dramatically and there were these cows on the bank licking away at it and I was too scared to get off the boat!

but really nice! wanna see it tooooooo!!!!

but that pic of her is so sadly
so thin and she even lost one horn at her escape
can you see it bleeding? it wont grow back
but at least she is secure now
think she really has deserved that now
(certainly made and still makes more money by her escape and story about, than just to get slaughtered! )

Malpeki, with a bit of luck maybe you can convert your OH and he too will realise what fantastic creatures cows are.

All animals have the capacity to be loving and gentle, all it takes is kindness.

I've just looked through your photos again and that first one set me off crying. I see your cattle are so loved and cared for and then think of all the other poor 'meat creatures' who have never been shown any love or kindness in their very short lives from anyone and have only known abuse and suffering.
It's not their fault they were born a cow, pig or sheep instead of a dog or cat.

I don't usually get upset anymore when I see cruelty, I have seen too many online videos which I've been sent from various animal welfare organisations that now I just get so damn angry and my hatred for certain members of the human species grows. but people like you restore my faith that some humans actually do care.
