Types of food

Hiya,

I dunno whether to put this is the 'heated debates' section or not LOL

I've been reading a few recent threads about different food types, and it's got me wondering if Satch's complete food is really the best for him.

He came to us from the breeder on Eukanuba, which I changed to Purina Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy as the Eukanuba seemed to be giving him dandruff/scurf. On Purina, the scurf disappeared, his coat's lovely, he's a good weight for his size, he's got plenty of energy and the vets comment on his good condition.

Despite all these good things, I'm now concerned he could be fed a 'better' type of complete food. He's 14 months, still growing, 48kg and 25".

I also feed him veggies, cheese, raw bones, rice, pasta and scrambled eggs.

Becs

Sounds ok to me. I assume he is on the Adult food now? If not then at 14 months I think he should be.

If he is thriving on what you are feeding then I see no reason to change.

Purina Pro Plan is one of the "better" foods. So I wouldnt change.

And besides if he's thriving there's no need to change...

I'm changing now, but that's cos Luna is itching on the food she gets now.

I agree if your dog is thriving on the food you give - why change

The best food is what suits your dog...and yours sounds like its doing fine!
I would however change onto adult....mine change to adult at about 6 months since I don't agree with feeding feeds with to higher protein level
