Social networking question

I'm not a member of the book site and had no intention of ever joining. It's just that a company I want to get information on is on this book site and I want to be able to read the posts - I can't at the moment because it tells me to sign up.

Do you have to sign up with your real identity and if you don't, how would they know?

Could you maybe use someone else's id to use that bit?
It has been suggested to me a few times, but I have a real antipathy towards that place so won't give them the pleasure of another 'hit'
What is it with people that they won't have a proper site anymore but instead assume that everyone wants to join somewhere like that.

There are countless fake accounts on there already
I think you need to provide a real email address, but everything else can be fictional!

Both of my dogs have accounts my husband thought it was amusing. I myself have never bothered with the ever popular book.

As above. Pal of mine has a page for their lamb! Lamby!

If you have a friend or family member who is signed up and they don't mind you logging in as them just to read it.

As long as it's a public page you will be able to. If not you have to join the page or befriend the person or waddever! But you can unfriend them again straight afterwards lol!

*I read recently that more than 80 million accounts on there are 'fake accounts'.

Thanks for the advice.

Well, I joined and got the information I wanted. Only thing is, the flaming thing seems to have gone through my email addresses and keeps suggesting people I might want to add as friends. I wish it would butt out and leave me be. I hope these 'friends' can't see me or what I'm looking at. I'm paranoid now, I feel like there's a camera on me or something. I don't even want to be 'on' this thing, I just wanted to access some information.
