Surrey group walks - Dogsey members welcome

Further to the "Getting out of London" thread in General Dog Chat, I thought this thread may help us arrange a date/possible future walks and let other local Dogsey members know they're welcome.

For the first walk we're looking at heading to Boxhill. This is the current plan, unless anyone has any objections:

I can't do this weekend but the 31st July/1st August and the first three weekends in August are good with me. My attendance will depend on weather being cool enough to travel (not just there, but for it to not have got too hot by the time we plan to head home)
I'm sure anyone would be welcome - we are going to have at least one or two dog-reactive dogs but owners will be taking muzzles & long lines for precautions. We ask that anyone coming along who either knows their dog may be an issue, or isn't entirely convinced they won't be, takes the same precautions. Also please arm yourself with poo bags to clean up after your dog(s). These walks aren't endorsed by Dogsey or any rescue/organisation so individuals must take responsibility for their own dogs, but if we're going as a group, it would be nice to give the general public a good impression, especially those like me with breeds who often get bad rep. This is our chance to show people that these breeds don't savage children/people/other dogs, and that all sorts of dogs can mingle nicely so lets try to make a good impression and not have dogs running rampant and show that dog owners do clean up after themselves
I'll be driving so I'm happy to bring bottles of water/bowls to lend those who are travelling by public transport so dogs can have a drink at the end of the walk, but may be worth seeing if someone else with a car can do the same just incase I can't make it.

Just to update this for any lurking members considering coming along - looks like this will probably go ahead on the 14th of August, fairly early in the morning to avoid the heat. If you're interested but have any questions, feel free to ask them!

do you do this regularly? I will be moving to near Guildford in the autumn and would love to join you all. Bentley needs as much socialising as possible

If it wasn't a walk up a s*ddin' great big hill I'd join you lol! I'm surrounded by blooming great hills here where I live on the South Downs, so a nice walk on the flat would do me just right!!! I'll catch up on the next one then maybe! Have fun!

I did a timed test walk this morning starting at Boxhill and Westhumble Station, where it is free to park for those of us driving there!

I did a 2.5 hour walk which started and finished at the stepping stones in The Mole. The river is shallow, easily accessible and gravelly on the bottom. So, perfect for novices or those who just want a drink. At the end of the walk we could go to The Stepping Stones pub, where there is a special doggy bit with a wooden floor, or a garden if you prefer. Tomorrow I am going to do a timed, longer walk in case 2.5 hours is not long enough. We cater for all tastes here!! I'm not going to take any pics, I'll save that for 14/08.

This will be the first walk we've arranged - hopefully if it's a success we'll carry on arranging them and you'd be more than welcome

Hia will def keep reading the thread, it'll take about an hour by car for us but it'd def be worth it if invite still open to everyone? will only take Flynn as Sam would probs find loads of dogs stressful! If anyone lives near portchester/fareham i'd be happy to give lifts?

Of course you're welcome! Maybe we can do a headcount a bit closer to the time so you know roughly how many dogs to expect and can decide whether Sam would find it too tough. I may just take the one doggy first time to see how things go anyway - fingers crossed it all goes smoothly
