Brandy

Brandy is an 7 month Lurcher male, he is currently in a foster home, Brandy would like to find himself a new home, so here is a bit about our boy.

Fosterers Report

He's settled in with us quite well now - he was showing some anxiety to begin with, as would probably be expected, and howled a bit during the night, but this has all but stopped now. He will sometimes whine a bit when he is first left, but stops after a couple of minutes. I thought at first that it might be best to recommend he goes to a home with another dog, so he has some company, but he would probably do ok by himself once he settled in. He has shown no destructive behaviour, chewing, scratching etc whilst people are around or when alone.

He had a bit of diarrhoea when he first arrived, and consequently had a few accidents at night, although he was fine during the day. This has also stopped now, and he seems fully housetrained as his previous owner indicated.

As she also said, he loves people, and will go up to anyone for attention. He tends to follow people around the house to make sure he is with them, although he is doing this a bit less now, and is sometimes happy to sit in the next room. He seems less sure of other dogs - he will almost always try to approach them when he meets them on walks, but seems slightly unsure of their reaction. He's also turned tail and run a couple of times when he's been barked at. A bit more socialisation with other dogs is definitely necessary I think. Presumably once he is neutered it will be possible to let him off the lead? Currently he can't really run around like he wants to, as we can't nearly keep up with him, and he has to make do with figure of eights around the garden! I wouldn't be confident currently walking him generally off the lead (he has no sense of road safety, and would most likely not think twice of running in front of, or even up to a car in the road), but in a open space of grass away from roads he should be ok.

Otherwise, things we have learnt about him that may be useful to you are that he is fine with small children, he loves to play (mostly chasing you or being chased by you) and so would be better with people with the time / energy to play with him plenty, he is fairly smart (we've been doing some basic training with him), but also quite dappy, and occasionally a bit of a scardey-cat.

Overall he is a lovely dog, who everyone likes.

Brandy is not yet neutered, but he will be rehomed neutered, vaccinated, ID Chipped, received flea and worming treatment, and adopted with 6 six free insurance.

He is still only a puppy, so training and socialising is a must for this lovely young lad.
