What you do is search for various connections, and then you find the nearest one and connect to it, doesn't have to be on the same one, I am on 02 at home but I can connect to anything on my phone as long as it isn't locked

Yes but but but!

It was stated it has to be on the SAME connection as your 'home' internet! It's unlikely that a hotspot will be isn't it?

I don't think that's relevant once you're out and about, just at home. That's the way my phone works anyway, and I know Leon has an iphone and he has it tuned into my 02 so it picks that up when he is here, but he is on Virgin at home for example.
I've got an Android, so I know it is different. But if I tap on the wifi in settings it gives me a list of connections within range and if they are not secure then I can go into them and piggyback onto them, same with a wifi hot spot, your phone picks it up and you go onto them. There's a BT Openzone showing on my phone, but it isn't in range, so your phone would pick up on a BT openzone and home in on it, so I suspect that BT openzone is like a wifi hot spot but is only available to BT users.

Hi

It's great to see that you're interested in our Dog Monitor app.

Let me just explain the concerns about wifi/3G connections.

All you need are two iPhones, iPads or iPod Touch (or any combination) connected to the internet. It doesn't matter how. It can be either wifi, public hotspot, cellular connection (LTE, 3G EDGE) etc....than you are able to hear and talk to your dog and see live still picture.

If both devices are connected to the same wifi network, instead of still pictures you'll get video.

Using Dog Monitor is really easy and there is a step by step tutorial which will help you connect both devices.

Just let me know if you have any questions.
