Advice on cat.....

I currently have a 17 year old cat, I have had her since I was 4 years old. Several months ago she became deaf, so for her own safety she came to live in my flat and become a pampered puss.

Previoulsy she was an indoor/outdoor cat and on a few occations, she would come home with cuts.... over her.
Also the result of many trips to the vet.....

Her name is Lucky and she is the most friendliest wee soul, but such a diva lately.

she constantly wanted attention....
For instance if I am eating dinner and I don't allow her up next to me where I am eating.... she will go out in the hall and call, meow....

She sometimes does the above when I take Zara out for a walk as well.

Also sometimes at night, she will also call.... even though we take her to bed with us. She will settle, then as soon as we fall asleep and stop petting her, she will wake up and call again.

She will also pester me, by meowing..... until I wake up in the morning to feed her, the time varies.

I have tried: rescue remedy drops in the water bowl,
feliway spray... usually sprayed 20/30 mins before going to bed.
taking her to bed with us.....
leaving the light on at bed time.
buying her more toys, to keep her aqupied when i'm out.
she loves playing with the feather duster - can tire her out and she acts like a kitten.
Taking her out in the shared back garden in a harness and long line, so she can have a sniff about - she loves it.

She was at the vets a few weeks ago, I noticed marks on her tummy.... thought it was the dreaded C. However turned out that it was a skin infection...... she has had a few previoulsy, but on her neck. So she has got tablets and it seems to be clearing up.

When we took her to the vets months ago, we actually thought it was going to be her last visit.
But the vet shocked us, he checked her over and said she was in amazing condition, especially since she is 17.

She is a petite little cat and only weighs about 2kg, although she seems to always be hungry.... she was wormed last week.
If it was possible, she would happily snuggle on your lap all day, just as long as she has had food. lol

I'd go back to your vet and suggest the possibility of a thyroid condition. Mention the 'always hungry' and the calling in the night, as these are classic symptoms.

Has her coat started looking a bit dry and rough?

It can be diagnosed with a blood test and managed well with drugs - hyperthyroidism is very common in older cats and they can go on for quite a few years with it.

She had an OP with regards to her thyroid a few years ago!

Her coat seemed to be lovely and glossy, after a few months of her coming to my house and just recently it looks dry and rough!

yes , sounds like it could be hyperthyroidism very common and manageable..without treatment extra pressure is put on the heart and other organs

...bloods are required.
