Remembering my best friend, my heart dog

I haven't posted in awhile and I just wanted to let you all know that I lost Shadow in May 2012 at the age of 13 years. He was my beloved heart dog, the best friend a person could ever hope for...sadly , I had to let him go to the rainbow bridge that fateful day. He had not been really up to snuff for awhile and the last 2 weeks of his life were filled with pain...I never realized how much...because he wouldn't let it show.

The vet came to our home and helped stop Shadow's pain. He was in my arms when he passed and just talking about it now my heart is breaking. My husband later said to me " Shadow is gone now but he left his pain behind."

This is my tribute to my boy, I love you sweetheart, you wait for Mom...I'll be along in awhile.





The Last Battle
If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this, the last battle, can't be won.

You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,

Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.

I am so sorry for your loss of gorgeous Shadow. My heart breaks for you.

Thank-you for your thoughts and condolences...it's amazing how such a small little soul can fill up a home so full of love.
It was very difficult at first and still is when I stop to look at his urn and picture.
His urn sits on a shelf in our room with his picture, collar and a lock of his hair...close to our bed where his kennel always stood.

We have since bought a little girl cocker spaniel, not to replace Shadow of course because he holds a special place in my heart but I'm afraid my boy spoiled me from ever being alone again ( pet wise ) and my husband misses the furry face and wet kisses.
I will introduce her in another thread.
