Why on Earth do people do this? What fun do they get out of it?

I would think that there is advice needed, but not in relation to dogs

Come on, you should feel sorry for these poor people. You and I and the vast majority of people are on here because we love dogs and enjoy talking about them. These poor individuals have absolutely nothing else in their sad, lonely lives or they would be doing something that they enjoyed instead of being on here.

Oh I do. I have nothing but pity for people like this. Imagine being so sad and pathetic and friendless you have to resort to being a troll to get some attention, it is truly tragic
