If you think dogs are stressed and desperate for a treat then you never really understood positive training Adam
Which possibly explains why you think it takes a long time to train positivly

I already put a link up to silvia trkmans puppy class where puppies who had been in the class for 6 weeks were all oflead heeling, showing off their tricks, recaling and focusing on their owners with total joy ignoring the chaos of the class around them

also 'desperate for a treat' hmm My dogs run a full agility course with no desire for a reward - just doing the job is rewarding enough for them

Thats a very good point mt little Collie does a bit of agility and yes she gets a ragger at the end of it. BUT the only reason she has a ragger is to stop her from biting me with enthusiasm lol

Adam's a great trainer, actually!

I have never met anyone before who has been so good and effective to educate people about all the bad things about using aversives and e-collars!

If he is a member of any e-collar associations I would think they will boot him out cos he's never once yet managed to represent them in a positive light.

His posts are not about training dogs, but about training people, and he is doing a splendid job training people how to avoid bad methods!

Sorry Adam.

I think you didn't really start out as a dog trainer at first, but just found a niche where you thought you could make some money. It's not going to make you rich and it's not going to pay your rent in the long term.

And the more you post on forums, the less I can see you progressing long term in the UK, unless you decide to relocate and become a specialised dog-alligator trainer.

Give it a couple of years and we will all be laughing on here, about Adam and his jumped up ideas. Maybe the UK isn't right for him and his ideas, and he will find fame & fortune elsewhere.

In summary: he's got a way to go to get respect from anyone and you can't buy trust or respect, from people OR dogs.

What a lovely looking bunch.

Actually, all the pictures posted are of lovely, happy looking dogs so very different from the cowed and miserable dog in the prong collar photo.

They say a picture paints a thousand words. The comparisons here are priceless. They are very graphic illustrations of how dogs can be happy while learning. I feel so desperately sorry for the dogs like the one in the prong photo.

Poor dogs don't have a voice and the communication they try is so very often ignored, but we can speak - we really can make their point for them. Hopefully, somewhere down the line, some will listen

Mine do a down & they don't look like that lol. In fact Izze will do anything, not for a treat... but for a camera, all I have to do to insure a nice pose is take any kind of camera ou & start taking photos lol.

I'm mobile so I can't post photos, but there are tons on my [a social network] page.

Adam
But time & time & time again, youve proved you dont understand positive training, so how can you use it.
Can you give a example of how youve used positive training (exclusively) as youve stated above.

What youve done & why? Thankyouuuuu
