Calling all chefs.... Restrictive ingredient list - could you work your magic?

For the chefs among us (or any of you who are good at cooking!) could you work you magic with a restricted ingrediant list?

What could you make without:
  1. Yeast (but you could use bicarb as an alternative?)
  2. Milk or milk products (but you can use a substitue like soya milk)
  3. Added sugar (or if you really must, organic cane sugar only)
  4. Chemical stuff such as MSG or 'e's, so no pre-packed things like bisto - you have to know exactly whats going in to your dish.

So could you rustle something up if I was coming round?

The best recipes I've learnt have been from people (as opposed to books etc) so c'mon guys lets see what you can do. I'll be sure to thank you with rep points

Please make sure a rubbishy cook like me can follow your recipe

Not all e numbers are bad!

I was once at a nutritionist seminar, and delegates were asked to identify a food by the 'e' numbers listed on the board.

After many guesses, ranging from chocolate to curry sauce to coca cola, the item was revealed to be.....

the humble apple!

E300 for example is VitC.

Now...what did you have in mind? sweet or savoury?

cc22peatree - on detox those are some of the things you can't eat

Thandi - yep, all e numbers are not bad.. but I prefer natural cooking without any additives using real ingrediants - I just don't like the idea of eating factory made stuff Sweet or savory? Prefer sweet but savourys generally healthier

Stormey - lol, I do like homemade chips, but try not eating deep fat fried foods.

Brundog - pasta sounds good, now all I need is a step by step guide on how to make your sauce Can't have chocolate as it contains lactose from milk tho Snuggling up to read Dogsey sounds cool

Hevvur - sounds yum, step by step please

Blimey! Where to start? Most of the stuff we eat fits those criteria. How about veggie pad thai, african fruit stew, pasta al arrabiata, tofu and noodle soup...

I'll stick a few recipes on over the weekend

I do a really good beef casserole that should suit you. We do it in the slow cooker but can go in the oven as well. Will post the recipe for you later.
