Our black lab is 12 weeks old and has been having runny pooh for the last few days. Help!!! We feed him dried puppy food ( baxters)

goats milk is supposed to be better than cows milk for dogs, my wee BT was brought up with goats milk, never had a problem, I'm not a fan of baxters food though, you can only take the goats milk off him n see if it makes a difference...x

All my dogs still have goats milk as an occasional treat but it can definitely upset their tums if they are not used to it or have it too often. You'd be better off giving a natural bio yoghurt such as yeo valley.

Sorry not baxters, we give him bakers puppy food. Could you recommend a puppy food?

How much goat milk are you giving him? my dogs (and our now 6 month old pup) get a dollop of goats yoghurt every now and then but not super regularly.
Personally i recommend Arden Grange as a puppy food.

No dog will actually need milk once weaned off their mother's so I would stop it and see what happens. Not all dogs can tolerate bio yoghurt either - again it isn't necessary. Bakers dog food is full of colours and additives.

I like Arden Grange as well.

If the runny poo continues I would consult a vet.
Hope he is better soon

Any food can upset a dog.

No animal is designed to drink milk once weaned and dogs do not possess the enzymes or not enough of them (lactase) to metabolize lactose (milk sugar).

So, whilst you may get away with giving this to some dogs in some quantities you will not to all.

In addition some dogs are intolerant of milk protein (casein).

Yoghurt is tolerated better due to the effect bacteria has on the milk.

Bakers is probably not the greatest choice of dog foods in the world (although millions do well on it) you might want to consider other options which do not possess unecessary sugars, salts, colourings and emulsifiers etc

I put 1/2 a carton of puppy milk in with his dry food, the cartons are small so not too much.
