Doggy toilet problems

Monty (4 year old Lhassa x Westie) every so often has problems pooing.
The best way to describe it is as if his poo is too big to come out of his bum, it doesn't drop off as normal unless he turns around a few times. It doesn't always drop off / out and I have to manually give it a squeeze out
It's not dry or hard.
He sometimes gets quite distressed by it, especially if it sticks to his fur, whining etc.
This morning's walk was a nightmare, he kept stopping to lick his bum and scoot it along the floor.
He is fed twice a day with tinned meat & biscuits.
Any suggestions ?

I'm sorry your having trouble with your little lad. If you haven't changed his diet recently it may be worth getting him checked over at the vet in case his anal glands are giving him problems. It would also be worth trimming the hair around his anus. Good luck and I hope you find the reason.

I would get him a check at the vets and also change his diet [ over a week ] and try putting 1/2 teaspoon of oil NOT olive oil [once a day] in his food
