I would be very sad if I thought my breed was among the most popular. It would only give the puppy farmers an excuse to churn out hundreds of badly bred sickly specimens, without any thought for the breed or for the bitches they farmed The best I can hope for my breed (American Cocker) is that the general public will see them as the high maintainence breed that they are.

As for Chocolate Labs being more difficult to live with in whatever way, it is generally accepted that they are more difficult to train, and have a shorter attention span. There has never been a UK Field Trial Champion Chocolate Labrador. There have been countless Blacks and Yellows. Unfortunately there is a fashion for Chocolate Labs, and that demand is being filled by greedy people that have no in depth knowledge of the breed and just mate any old Choc to any old Choc, and what you end up with is a brown dog with little or no resemblance to a good Labrador. In general people do not know that Choc to Choc is a no no. They only see ££££££££ for Chocolate puppies. I wonder if the demand would exist to the same extent if the breed called the colour, Liver, or simply Brown.

When I lived in Edinburgh, I saw only one Border Collie in about 15 years, but up here, they're almost like vermin , both as pets and as workers! Not surprising, I suppose, considering the number of pups which must get produced "accidentally" on the local farms.

I would have expected to see them higher up the list, given the number seen in adverts and on pet product packaging, still, a BC is not for everyone

A well bred labrador should be capable of field/show work WHATEVER THE COLOUR, colour doesnt change a labs mentality! thats ridiculous!

I agree chocolate labs have fallen into the arms of puppy farmers, unfortunatly there are SOME bad tempered , mad chocs around, as they are some aggressive blacks and yellows
