URGENT - GSD needs a rescue place

Can anyone at all help this gorgeous girl?

Sam needs a rescue space.
German Shepherd, female, approximately 10-12 months old. She is black and tan in colour with a full coat and she is medium in size but a bit thin. Although Sam is a little timid at present she is very friendly and she seems Ok with other dogs. She is a beautiful girl!
She will be put to sleep on Wednesday 4th November 2009 if she is not claimed, if a rescue space is not found for her or if the funds are not available for emergency boarding.

Rochdale Dog Rescue try to prevent dogs being put to sleep at the end of their required 7 day stay. We work closely with one pound who provide us with photographs and essential information about the dogs coming in to their care so that we can contact responsible rescues around the country to find safe rescue spaces for these dogs.

Unfortunately, the majority of dogs are not claimed so we have to find placements within 7 days otherwise they are to be put to sleep.

Few people realise that many healthy dogs, through no fault of their own, are being destroyed if not claimed within the week.

Rochdale Dog Rescue will only use rescues that have a clear and adhered to neutering/spaying policy. They must also vaccinate, worm, flea treat and health check. Beyond this, they need to offer an assessment of the dog's temperament before homing, carry out homechecks, and ideally follow ups.

We DO NOT rehome pound dogs directly to the public or place them directly into foster homes and any rescues that we work with must have kennelling facilities where the dogs can be fully assessed before being placed into a home situation. They will also be visited by one of our volunteers prior to working with them.

The dogs that we are dealing with have already lost at least one home, we want to ensure that they have the best chance of lifetime homes when we seek rescue spaces, hence the criteria

Not that they dont home to the public, just not directly, most rescues have this policy and it makes sence.

its because many of these dogs have unknown history / strays so need to detremine their character before placing in home environment

cheers

Kirsty, if you are struggling, have you tried Tom...he does a bit of work with other GSD rescues and may be willing to take her on...though you'd need to work out how to get her to him.

Thanks everyone. I was hoping to get this little girl into the rescue I volunteer for - although transport may have been an issue, but I am pleased to say that if she isn't claimed in her 7 days, she is going to a rescue in Lancaster next week. I know the rescue personally and they are very good

Phew!
