Blood in urine 17 wk old pup

Icon has got blood in his urine. He's been weeing in the house today, which he never does now (well apart from the odd accident) but when I mopped it up earlier there was a large amount of blood in it, I called the vet and I'm going to the clinic in the morning, but I'm really worried about him, has anyone ever had this and if so, what was it?

There's a whole heap of things that result in this.

It's easy to jump to something sinister especially if (like me)you check the web but chances are you're looking at some kind of urinary tract infection.

You're doing the right thing in going to the vet.

Keep us posted.

Poor Icon .. Patch (PRT) had this really scared me but it was cystitis which apparently is rarer in males as their urinary tract is longer. he had it twice in his lifetime a course of AB's soon cleared it up.

Also my female cat had it recently and the urine was Bright red and I was so worried. she did it in the house also which never usually happens.. she had a special diet and a injection of AB's all sorted. also she kept trying to wee but nothing happening. apparently the main caue of cystitis in cats is dry biscuits so i cut them out now she helps herself to the dogs!!!

hopefully thats all it will be with Icon fingers crossed xxxx

I do hope it's just a urine infection but you are doing the right thing getting him straight in to the vets, please let us know.

Hugs to you and gentle cuddle for Icon. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Good luck at the clinic this morning, Lorna. Hope Icon's just got a common or garden urinary tract infection that can be battered into submission with some anti-b's.

Keep us posted please honey xox

Others have said the same as I would, I'm sure it's nothing serious and the vet can sort him out this morning. Wishing Icon a speedy recovery!

My sons pup was exactly the same, turned out to be a urinary infection he was put on ab's and within a day it had cleared. I hope it is something simple like that for Icon.
