Tattoos on dogs

Has anyone ever seen a tattoo like this on a dog?



It's in the groin of a rescue dog. Could be foreign?

I know, as I'm sure you will, that the forces/services dogs all have tattoo's either in the ear or top lip, never seen one on a groin - possibly it is foreign, any background on the dog?

No, very little background - she's elderly and was picked up as a stray, but she's a breed often used by the police and military.

i know of dogs that have been involved with the law that have groin tattoos

From the picture it looks like "525" - but it's shoddy work so I could be wrong

Probably not as blurred when it was new, some do fade over time and the dog is probably over 10!

Pit Bulls were tattooed there when the ban came into effect. Id only have mine tattooed there, best place IMO.

When I got my first dog in france you had to have them tattooed, you had the choise of ear or groin, I chose groin as the story that was going round said that if the dog is stolen (ie a good gun dog ) then they could just cut of the ear and keep the dog , so I didnt want to risk Ted getting stolen. A lot of hunting dogs had tats on the groin. Now you have to chip so much better all round.
