KC showing and dogs sexual status.......

To show a male or female dog at a KC show (with a KC registered dog of course) do bitches and dogs have to be unaltered.... ie, unspeyed or entire?

Just interested.

no they don't but you need to inform the KC of any surgery to prevent breeding and have a letter giving permission. In many breeds you wouldn't know if a bitch was spayed. A neutered dog will often place lower than his entire counterparts though, even if he is the better dog. It depends on the judge and how serious they consider his lack of testicles to be. After al, normal testicles on male animals are mentioned in breed standards.

A dog may be shown if neutered as long as the KC have been informed. All the bitches I have shown (and won with) have been spayed.

It is far more difficult for dogs as of course the judge is looking for two perfectly formed testicles so if they are not there it generally, but not always, precludes them from top honours. Depends what other dogs are like in the line up!

You would then be in breach of rule (whatever it is) and be disqualified and even fined and barred from exhibiting in future.

The KC have very strict rules about cosmetic surgery and even hairspray and chalk

You don't need a permission to show letter, you get an acknowledgement that your previously entire dog/bitch has been neutered, the permission to show letters stopped over 20 years ago, when dogs/bitches without offspring that had been neutered could be shown at KC shows(I had one of the first bitches to be spayed on medical grounds that didn't have puppies that was made up, before the change you couldn't "legally"show such bitches)

Yes you can, but don't be surprised if you get chucked, specially if its evident.
