I personally believe it's all down to socialisation and positive interaction with other dogs, especially whilst they're a pup and just as importantly throughout adolescence. All the fighting breeds need more intensive socialisation around other dogs throughout their lives, starting whilst very young. I've known just as many dog friendly staffys as I've meet dog aggressive Staffys.

What I've never met though is a staffy scared of other dogs (submissive yes but not scared), has anyone?

Sadly the most common breed that comes through rescue, yet very few have issues with people including young children.

I've met one staffy that didn't like people...but not all people!
He was a regular at the Kennels I worked at.
He only likes the head girl, but no one else!
He used to growl and bear his teeth at the rest of us!

its the damned byb who breed and give them out nilly willy!
I personally will never breed inless i think i have dogs that are exceptional! I adore my animals and love them more than anything (apart from my human family lol) but i personally do not want to risk my bitch or place more staffords in the world when there is really no need! Bessie and Borris where taken off cruel people (bessie's mum was pregnant anyway and had the pups) and we were told and we took bessie on, i wish i could take them all on but its not ideal, if i win the lotto i will set up and kennel and right now we give money every 6 months that we save up along with some other stafford owners and give it to stafford rescue.
We have rescued a few pups from byb and placed them in loving homes and i really do adore this breed and its makes me upset to see so many staffords abused and needing homes!

The very few staffys I meet with people aggression issues have usually, previously been owned by youths who have trained them to be aggressive towards strangers

Byb stands for Back Yard Breeder. In short, a person who breeds dogs with no health checks, no care regarding lines whether purebred or not, not registered with the KC as an accredited breeder nor with a formal recognised breed club whose members sign up to adhere to a strict code of ethics.

A byb has no ethics whatsoever regarding the wellbeing of the dogs they breed from nor the offspring. They just want to make a few quid basically, hence not spending out on proper health checks, not catering for health care before during and after producing a litter, and are certainly not in it for the good of their breed.
