How many times is too many??

Situation.....last weekend I had a phone call from a gentleman that comes to classes with his dog. It is a Blue and white BC type Cruelty case from the RSPCA (apparently about 15 seized off a farm in awful condition...)

Dog is lovely with other dogs....bit wary of people and a traffic chaser. He goes off the lead in a secure field they have near them but other than that has lead walks around town....

The phone call goes as follow...

'Hello,
I am sorry I do not think I will be able to come training on tuesday, So I will not be able to pay you for the harness...'
'OK - no worries hope to see you next week...how are things going?'
'....well, up until yesterday, very well'
'Oh dear - what happened yesterday?'
'Well, he got attacked'
....'What!?'

'Well, I was out walking him and this greyhound ran over and started attacking him....unfortunatley I tripped over him and the dog got me on the face as well, I am off back to A&E in a min'

Well I was in shock....but he turned up today - (the dog has had his stitches out) and it was nasty, he had stitched in his side and also legs....but amazingly is still fantastic with every dog he meets! The bloke has an inch long cut beneath his eye that is healing well, but he could SO easily have lost an eye.

It turns out both dogs were on a lead, he had just reached the field and opened the gate to go in and the greyhound slipped its lead and flew over....obviously the guy fell trying to split them and the dog got him as well...

But....it turns out this was the 4th time the dog had attacked and one of the previous times it had bitten (and broken the skin) on this mans arm....I am just in shock that this was allowed to happen 4 times...

So my question...how many times is too many??

I thought most greyhounds not sure if this a rescue or not have too wear muzzles if they have been blooded and raced.

So if it is a rescue why was it not wearing a muzzle ? If it isn't and this is the fourth time it has attacked again why isn't it wearing a muzzle ?

Good too hear the poor BC is ok and not been spooked by being attacked and thankfully the mans injuries weren't worse.

I would be shocked if a dog was continuing to cause that amount of damage unchecked,

the first time is an accident, the second, you could forgive, but 3/4 is just negligence on the owners part.

Is it the 4th time the dog has attacked another dog?
Or the 4th time it has attacked a person?

It's not good is it the greyhound should be muzzled.

Do you mean it attacked four other dogs, and has bitten the BC's owner before??

Obviously the Greyhound needs to have a more responsible owner, in the first place.

The greyhound is no longer an issue

It was 4 attacks....I think 2 were dogs, one was the man and the last one was the man and his dog.

Oh dear and it could all of been avoided if the owner had muzzled the dog.

Very sad xxx

I am glad the BC is recovering well xxx

Hold on a min.....
you mean that breeds other than the PB and SBT have aggressive tendancies......

Gosh!! are you sure it wasn't a staffie in disguise!?

Seriously through- once is enough, it needs to be properly rehabilitated and trained......
