Dog Abuse

I'm so angry.
There is a neighbour who has land behind me and apart from the fact I have reported him on the condition of his livestock, it is the dogs he has that make me angry.
He has three collies, 1 male and two females, which he breeds for puppies.
My main concern is the youngest girl. She's about two years old. I know because the man told me that he got her simply for breeding.
Now the dog has not been socialised and I don't think is treated very well, hence I have seen her turn from a happy puppy to a dog that has actually bitten two people.
The man allows her to roam and has delibrately opened the fence up behind me thinking my boy will get over her and mate her. I have been round there four times over the past year and said your dogs out, near the road etc and I am not the only one to tell him. I also dropped into the conversation that my boy was done (he's not) and not long after the fence was fixed.
A couple of nights ago I drove home and nearly hit her coming into the village (no street lights and a black dog)
I was furious as I would feel terrible if I had.
I then see her yesterday and she had plumbing tape wrapped round her muzzle to keep her mouth shut as he obviously knows she bites.
I complained to a neighbour and she told me that he someones puts a muzzle on her made out of chicken wire.
I don't know what to do. I am going to report him to the council and local dog warden and the RSPCA. Health wise she looks in good condition. I'm so furious though. If I could actually get near her and get her in the car I would drive her out of the County and find a rescue for her.
It would upset me if it was any dog but being a BC it touches an extra nerve. I just feel helpless.
This is someone who is actually a local councillor. I feel like going along to the next meeting and asking him in front of everyone about the way he treats his animals and letting them roam.
I just don't want to make things worse for the dog and I can see him chaining her up in the shed, as he did with his other dog.
Someone did have a go at him once, and he responded with "don't let your dog come anywhere near my land, I'll shoot him first chance I get".
I can't just sit and do nothing

That poor dog, and what a sad situation she is in. I really don't know what the suggest Do you think he would be interested in rehoming her as he clearly doesn't care about the fact she could be run over and killed? If not, I would contact all the people you have mentioned and try to cause a stir. Does he work his dogs at all, or are they simply breeding machines?

Hi Moobli.
No he doesn't work them, he made out he was going to. The male apparently actually killed a couple of his sheep just before I moved in. I can see them out the back of my house, chasing the goats and sheep around. He just lets them run free. I worry sometimes if my dogs were to get over there. My neighbours dog did on Christmas day and this mans male dog was in the field and cornering him. It was probably a funny sight but I got over the fence, grabbed my friends dog and threw him back over the fence before climbing back over (bear in mind it was muddy and I was dressed up for Xmas day, not a good look )
He wouldn't be interested in rehoming her, he just has her for the pups. Can't believe people would get a puppy from him. He must hide the parents as the dog is aggressive and mostly chained in the yard. He's someone that has a bit of land and makes out he's the big animal person in the village. When I moved in. He had two llamas which people complained about as they kept charging the fence if kids were in the garden. He now has four including one that has mated his mother. He has poultry which is fenced in on the back of the neighbours gardens who scratch round in piles of poo. He sells eggs from them but I have been warned to steer clear as the birds are not wormed.
And he has a large bird of prey that someone gave to him that spends it's days in a shed with no window. You hear it at night. It's so sad

I know it sounds awful but it might be better for the dog to be runover. She has no life and if she was rehomed (which he wouldn't agree to unless she was taken off him )it would take a lot of work, if he hasn't already gone too far and ruined her.

The only thing he could be done for is his dog roaming and she doesn't have a collar. The people that were bitten (one requiring treatment) won't report it. They worry about the dog (having dogs themselves) even though they were told it could be a child next time.

Poor animals - all of them.

I hope that if you do report him to the RSPCA that they take some sort of action. He shouldn't be able to keep an ant let alone dogs, llamas and hens.

I really feel for all his animals It sounds like an awful place. At least if the dogs were worked they would get some enjoyment out of life

It saddens me to think of their situation, and I bet there are many dogs up and down the country in similar situations.

If they are being fed, have water and some shelter, then I think there is little you can do. It must be heartbreaking to have to see it every day.

This is awful to read about - I can't offer any advice just my sympathies for these poor doggies and you having to live near and be witness to such horrible attitude to animals.

good luck in whatever you can do.

How awful for yo0u to have to watch that helplessly, I hate that in this country people can abuse animals in this way and us caring anuimal lovers can just watch and complain to official bodies who generally can't or won't do anything. Big hugs to you.
If it was me I would phone the RSPCA/dog wardens and police. I would then phone again and again and again until something was done.
Good luck and big hugs.

If he's breeding for money he will need a breeding licence irrespective of how many litters he produces, though with 2 bitches having a litter every season he'll probably be required in any event.
You can but do your best and hopefully one of the authorities will do something.

Ring the RSPCA now that Dog is being abused

Can you get anyone else in the Village to report him too.

if you can get some pictures of the Dog with the tape around its mouth that may help the RSPCA.

Please call today and if they don't turn up keep calling them every day I think sometimes they need a bit of a kick up the backside

He only needs a licence, if he has more than 3 breeding bitches although from looking on net some areas say more than 5!!
