Fireworks - would a DAP help?

Max and Murphy aren't scared of fireworks. They have seen them, been walked when they are going off, and have sat with us whilst we let them off.

But, what we are getting at the moment, is fireworks being let off randomly throughout the night. All we hear is a big bang

Both dogs stop whatever they are doing (eating, sleeping etc) and leap up and run to the back door barking. TBH, they are doing their "watch dog" bit; as they alert us to strange noises and goings on usually.

We don't reward this behaviour, and they are told to be 'quiet'.

However, it's getting quite annoying. Last night we had 6 large bangs in the space of 2 hours. Each time the dogs ran to the back door, barking their heads off. Of course, they are told to be 'quiet' and they go back to the sofa, or the bed and it's fine, until the next one goes off 20 mins later.

Short of finding whoever is letting them off and shoving a firework up their bum, what can we do?

The dogs can't see what is making the bang (and often there seems to be no sparkles, just a bang), and we have the TV or music on anyway, but the bangs are so lond, it drowns out the TV.

Would a DAP diffuser help, since they aren't particularly scared of the fireworks, it's the 'unseen noise' (they are the same if a car door is slammed late at night)

Ideas anyone?

A DAP diffuser may help to just calm them down, they are marvellous things. It may just take the edge off for them. It's best to introduce it before the fireworks start though so may be too late for this year, but always worth a go, we werwe shocked at how effective they are.
The other thing is to all sit in one room and turn the tV up???

Thanks guys.... have just ordered one and a refill online....

We're using 2 DAP diffusers (one downstairs one upstairs) for A who is extremely frightened of fireworks. We were also given some homeopathic anxiety drops for her. She still trembles when she hears oe, but not for as long as she used to.

Dap collars, Dap diffuser and a DAP spray all will help.Valerian tablets will also calm the dog down. Bachs rescue remedy drops too.

Fudge has them all, she is still nervous but not as bad as she was.
