We've come to a decision...

We are moving next year!
We have known for a good while we wanted to move, need somewhere bigger.
A house just up the road from us [identical to ours but with a larger garden and a conservatory ] has just been put up for sale, and its really made us think....
We paid £80,000 for this house in july 2010..we've put in approx £15,00 since then, new kitchen, utility room, artificial lawn etc.
The house thats for sale is on at...wait for it...£84,950
Dan says he will NOT sell this house unless he can at least break even, so we would need at least £95,000..and I don't think thats going to happen somehow

We have spoken to our accountant about moving and the sort of money we are looking at putting towards the next house and all being well, we'll be able to withdraw our allowance next april for next year [want to stay under the high VAT threshold if possible!] and buy a house!
We will rent this one out at the same time, probably through an agency.

Im so excited!!!
It seems a shame we have to wait til april next year, but otherwise we would be paying 40% tax on everything ontop of our allowance that we withdraw from our business account, which is ridiculous!

Pretty pointless thread isn't it...sorry...but I'm just really chuffed

You can sell ANY house if you price it right.

You cannot base the 'value' your current house on how much you need to buy the next one, or how much you need to clear 2nd mortgages etc!

I don't quite understand?
We don't want to sell our current house as we would make a loss on it unless we could sell it for at least £95,000, which is very unlikely going by what the last 3 houses on this road have sold for

However we don't need to sell this house to buy our next house..only reason we have to wait is because if we withdraw anymore this year we would be paying 40% tax on it, which doesn't make sense

We hope to move closer to my family, who are in Shropshire.
At the moment we are in Burton on Trent. Dan works in Birmingham for his day job, so we need to find somewhere within 30-40miles of there.
