Hi Shibby you can't really stipulate a weight, as Staffy says breeds differ

The main thing is the puppies are gaining some weigh and none are getting left to far behind..any smaller ones can be placed on the fuller back teats and watched to see they are not being pushed out of the way all the time by stronger littermates. Also try gently expressing a little milk before attatching a puppy to make sure the teat is full

I wouldn't weigh them too often, my two were only weighed once a month. I'd just keep an eye on the smallest ones to make sure they are not too far behind the bigger ones.

You'll soon see which ones are lagging behind, if any, as you spend the most time with them. It's great seeing pups growing especially when you start to see their individual personalities shinning through

no it isn't! it's down to me! :P :P

Shibby - you are the reason these pups are fat and healthy, and are going to have happy lives - you are the reason thatmum is as unstressed as possible. YOU are the reason - no one else - all we did was help you.

xx
