Barney, Staffie, DOB 08

Barney, Staffie, DOB 08

His Story: Barney was found stray and unclaimed.

Salient points: Handsome young Staffie. Well mannered and well trained. Tries to please. Higher energy once he settles so needs an active life style. Needs a companionship home and could possibly live with another dog. A little too excited for cats.

Advert: Barney has star qualities ... he created a stir when he arrived as he doesn't like kennels and being a little actor that look and oh dear his foster family were jumping in the car! He has proved himself to be a lovely family dog. If he lives with children they need to be older children, not people planning a family. His children need to be aware and not going to overcrowd him when he needs space. He walks well on a lead needing a little reminder to walk to heel and awareness if cats are around.

Barney is just a great dog who is very wowing, just as he is bow-ing. He is cheeky and has that cheeky look in his eyes if he oversteps the mark, but ever so aware what he is allowed to get away with. Chips are his favourite food so obviously managed it in his last home. He settles well in new situations and may well enjoy living with another dog, but certainly he'd love to be the apple in your eye! Barney can be left for short periods, but you won't want to!

Poor old Barney. Following his stressful time in kennels he has developed Kennel cough. He was a very poorly little chap yesterday but appears to have turned a corner and is brighter today and his appetite seems to be returning. Barney is enjoying all the extra cuddles.

This afternoon he enjoyed spending time in the garden. He had a lovely time playing with his new rope toy.

An update from Barney's fosterer:

"Barney felt quite unwell at the start of the week but is now feeling much better and his cough is much improved.

At the beginning of the week he rested quite a lot of the time.

But he is now keen to go out on his walks and to play with his toys.

Barney and Maggie really enjoy each others company on their walks and walk nicely together. So as Barney is now feeling better after their evening walk tonight they spent some time together inside. Barney did not seem worried about Maggie and by the end was keen to lay closer to her".

An update from Barney's fosterer:

"Barney was a little nervous of his new football but he soon got the hang of it.

Don’t think he will be England’s next striker but perhaps a defender as he liked to retain the ball, but with encouragement he did release it.

After a game of football Barney relaxed in the study".
