I had a ex puppy farm girly come and stay here for over 3 months. She only started to play after a month of getting settled in. I found she was more interested in chewing bones, and toys that worked the mind. She loved chewing on a kong for hours. You might find that your dog just isn't very playful, some dog just aren't playful. Don't forget what one dog likes another may not. I would buy a kong and just give him a cuddle and toilet when you get back.
