Sadly things we may not consider of any relevance are sometimes the things people treasure.
thats what else is bothering me - like her settee in the front room (this was her "best room") and she was very proud of it etc and I cant take it and its like Im just throwing away her stuff. I cant explain it - its just horrible and makes me feel uneasy

Hi Lel. Try not to feel to bad how about taking a video/picture of the room before you move anything.
But we have to move on.

And remember;
She's your nan and she loves you :smt049 and would not want you to be uneasy about anything would she??

Oh I'll tell you what I did my Nan had a dress and coat I always related to her and I cut a piece from each and sewed them together into a small approx 4" square with padding between and keep it safe. I Keep it in a tin of hers she kept her sewing pins in enough for me to remember. Because it sits next to a photo of nan in the same dress & coat.

how about asking the home where she is if they could use any of the stuff ??
They might like some of the furniture for the communal rooms

If you're really not sure what to do with it you could put it into storage for a while till you feel better about it
It's a horrible job -I don't envy you

I remember clearing out my nan's house. We dreaded it but then found that when we were sorting things we would pick something up and remember a funny story behind this item.

I don't envy u the job at all
