im sorry if i offend any one here ,but is that it,is that all he had to do,he should be banned for life,the poor dog,and poor man that got bit,if the idiot had looked after and trained the dog properly the poor dog would still be here.

I understand what you are saying but he hadn't actually been cruel to the dog in the strictest sense, he just let it get out of control, I don't know the full story of what went wrong when the dog attacked (I think it was in the owners garden) but I think he must have learnt his lesson not only with having his friend and policeman attacked and the dog shot dead but being banned for 2 years. I really don't see how a longer sentence would have helped.

If we are going to apply the rule that anyone who doesn't look after a dog properly should be banned for life I would estimate that's about 80% of the dog owning public!
