traditional feeding

Hi, i have decided to put my dane back onto canned tripe
or meat and mixer biscuit.
Have tried completes but she is not interested in them.
The cans will be breederpack/gelert and mixer breederpack
or fold hill.
She is fed 2 times a day and is now eating well again.
Does anyone else feed this way?.
mick.

my mum feeds her 2 young whippets on breederpack mixer and tinned chappie. Anything else goes straight through them. They are doing great and eat all their meals

I personally wouldn't feed breederpack, it is basically the rejected stuff from other brands and may well contain colourants and other additives.
If I was going to feed this way I would choose a basic plain wholegrain mixer, also referred to as terrier meal/biscuit.
There are many on the market that do not have additives such as Natural Choice, Winalot no longer seem to do their plain biscuit which is what I started out on!

Great Danes are one of the breeds that tend to be light eaters, liking to show off their ribs. If you didn't offer her more kibble than she is interested in, likely she would eat it.

I would never set myself at the daunting task of trying to assure my dog was getting a complete and balanced diet. Let the the dog food companies' dogs test my dog's food.

I certainly wouldn't feed mixer of any kind, nor a complete dry food to a dane.

I lost my girl to torsion (second time) and the vet said feeding her dry food was like putting a gun to her head.....

erkk why would you want to feed your dogs such low quality food?

You wouldn't feed my kids macdonalds every day so why feed your dogs rubbish?

"traditional" doesn't mean best, we learn more and more about nutrition all the time.

Yes, I feed my Pointer on tinned Butcher's tripe with Burns Mixer, because it's the only food he does well on, my other dog is on a dry complete.

In my opinion you have to feed what suits your dog, whatever that is!

I used to use to Laughing Dog mixer but it's hard to find these days. Butchers tripe is excellent though.
I want a good mixer and not one that looks like a complete food and had additives and colorants added.
Any sugestions?
