Errr no, the police are HUMANS too-they can get injured, oh and also have families! they cant be expected to try and safely restrain a dog that size that has just KILLED a person.

I was just watching the update on Sky News When the officers got there, the dog was still attacking the woman and they had to use shields to get it cornered away from her before they could shoot it. Poor, poor woman, she was well liked, always happy, they interviewed the guy in the local shop who knew her well. Still can't find the owner, he's done a runner wonder why! Then the Dog's Trust woman said people should think about getting the RIGHT dog for their circumstances! A dog like this would not be happy being housebound and not taken on long walks, so it was probably more than frustrated. The neighbour said he had had to phone the police and council on numerous occasions coz the dog was trying to get over the fence and he worried for his family and kids, not surprising!

But if it was trying to get over with the purpose of attacking them/trying to get over while acting aggressive...I think they can order it wears a muzzle out of the house but how would that have stopped this (I'm just assuming from the news I got that it was indoors?)?
