Anyone Got Pups To Help Mine?

Ok i have been told on my other thread that Harry my 6week pup needs to have other pups about his age to play with so he learns whats acceptable and whats not ie the biting as he was away from his mum at 5 weeks (breeder wasnt honest with age) so doesnt know anything about manners.

I dont know anyone who has pups or will let my pup whos not had all of his injections anywhere near there dogs who are adult dogs to help teach him.

So i know this is a big ask but do any of you have any ideal as to where im to find a litter of pups that mine can play with???

I wouldn't bother with this to teach your puppy manners, do it yourself. If he starts nipping you either don't react at all when he does nip & reward when he stops or walk away from him for a minute or so & go out of sight. He will learn this way that nipping a human doesn't get him what he wants.

Play tuggy with him by all means, but I would shape his behaviour using a clicker & very very short training sessions.

Carry him whilst out & sit outside supermarkets, shopping areas that allow dogs etc etc. This way he will see & hear other people, dogs etc etc safely. I would get him to a training class asap

You could try and find good mannered adult dogs---not the sort who put up with anything but the sort that will allow him puppy leeway but put the stoppers on it kindly if he goes too far.

You might find a local trainer with the right sort of dogs.

BRILL thanks, well he comes to school every morning and most afternoons so he gets to see lots of people, dogs, cars etc (no he doesnt get near the dogs or them near him) Hes been into the Spar shop too, they let him in and said its not a prob as he was either in the buggy with my daughter or i had hold of him.

We are well past the nipping stage we are more on the lets see how hard we can bite. I have tried the ignore but thats not easy with a pup sinking his teeth into you, i have done the remove mouth and leave him. Im going to try and use the clicker with him next.

He has his last injections in 3 weeks then can go out the week after so he will be 10 weeks for his 1st walk. Im just looking on line now for trainng classes for him, i need one i can get to as i dont drive but i will get him booked in if i need to ASAP

My 12 week old puppy will still give the odd nip when excited. Just follow the advice above and persevere

I'd be inclined to agree with this - though have looked at the other thread and SB tends to know her stuff so may have good reason to recommend socialising with puppies.
