You're creating a monster! Teaching a retriever to swim = bad idea! Soon he'll have learnt to completely soak his entire coat in the tinest of puddles, whether you want him to or not. Speedy walks turn into 20 min walks + 1 hour for hose down and drying time!

Still, he is very very gorgous and you will ahve lot of fun with him swimming, on the plus side!

Neither of my GSDs swim and my Cairn Terrier could swim but hated it. The other day I watched my friend chuck balls into his pool for his Golden. It was lovely to watch Heidi
(the dog) leap from the side, retrieve the ball and then swim fiercely for the steps. She went in and out at least 20 times bless her and clearly loved every minute. He can't swim much anymore - as soon as she sees him in there she leaps into the pool straight on top of him and thinks it's a great game. Your pup is stunning by the way.

Your boy is absolutely gorgeous

My pup is at a similar stage, she will go in the water, splash about, even put her head under, but panics if her feet can't touch the ground bless her.

He enjoyed it so thats the main thing they dont live very long and i want him to have as much fun as he can so getting wet isnt a problem..we are moving next week by a river so i can guess he will be dipping his toes in it.

Great to hear (and see!) that his confidence has grown. Adore his expression on that last pic
