Bird Food?

We enjoy feeding the birds that visit our garden, but inevitably some of the food ends up inside our Lab/Collie cross. I recently bought some bird food containing juniper berries. Although our lovely Lola enjoys blackberries and eating the raspberries in our garden, I am wary of her eating juniper berries without finding out if any of you lovely people have any advice to offer.

If I have any doubts, I will throw the bird seed in the fields.

Looking forward to some advice, please.

I think I read somewhere, that juniper berries are poisionous to dogs and cats. Not sure whether that's just the fresh berry or dried...I wouldn't risk it.

Maybe someone else can be more helpful, but am sure they are poisionous

I haven't a clue but stopped feeding a fruit mix as I was not sure that the birds liked everything in it.

did a quick google search and it looks like they can be posionous, I wouldn't risk it.

Thanks for the replies re juniper berries. Interestingly - worryingly! - I contacted the bird seed suppliers who came back to me saying that in their opinion juniper berries were OK.

I'd rather go with you lot, actually - I shall distribute the bird feed over the fields rather than just chuck it away.
