Importing A Dog From America - He's On His Way!!

Hiya,

We've been awaiting the arrival of our new dog from america for several months, he is flying over tonight so i thought i'd do a thread for anyone interested

He was picked up from the breeder a few hours ago, we're using a shipping company so they are dealing with everything from paperwork to getting him on the plane.

He has just arrived at the airport in Chicago and been checked in, got to keep checking the BA website to find out when his flight gets underway, its due to leave in about 4hours but he has to have a vet check and make sure all his paperwork is in order first.

Nerve wracking stuff for us and his breeder, although she exports to various countries regularly, she's never sent a dog to the UK.

His flight is due to land here at 7am so will be a LONG night

Anyway, not sure if this will interest anyone but thought i'd post anyway as its exciting times for me

Very exciting! Have you got any pics? Why are you importing? Why this particular dog? Do dogs get jet lag???

Looking forward to hearing all about him,

J.

No pics that i can post im afraid.

He's a chihuahua importing him because its almost impossible to get a show quality pup from UK breeders and his lines will hopefully be of benefit to the UK chi's. And this pup... Because he is from lines we love, with great temperments, health and he's been quite a star in the show ring in America

Good luck, that's very exciting! Poor little pup though on the flight, bet he'll be very pleased to see you and be welcomed into your home

Hope his flight goes well. To be honest, Im not sure I would want to put a young pup through such a stressful experience but BA do have a good rep for animal transport.
