Microchips

Is it normal for a chip to move about? I thought once they were in they stayed put

They shouldn't move but they certainly can, one of mine has moved to her armpit and I can feel it through her skin when I stroke her. Had it scanned and that's where it is. It still works though.

Yep, they can and do! One of our terriers now has it half way down her shoulder!

I had one move it a terrier it went to the same place her shoulder. Still worked though

Unfortunately, as others have said, chips can and do move. It is a good idea to get your vet to scan your dog whenever you take them in, just to check it can still be found and read.

That's where Spens was the first time we had him scanned. When we had him scanned to get the number for his passport though it had moved again and was up towards his shoulder.

As said they do move, which is why I always do a full body scan on any stray I come across (although with ferrets they are a little smaller and easy to do )

All our 3 have been chipped, and the vet scans when we are there to make sure they havent moved.

Bear had a cyst not that long ago and when he was scanned no chip could be found. We went back 3 times for scanning with still no chip found. The vet put another one in when operating on Bear for his cyst

yes they can move around. they arent meant to i dont think, but they do. i havent had daphni scanned for ages, so i have no idea where hers is.. and i havent had asbo done yet
