Thanks Lynn, I'll always remember Ollie (partly because his life mirrored our Baruska's) Rianna is in Stowmarket

Thanks, you know more than I do about big dogs so I really appreciate that.

Thanks Eileen, it was a shock, I was sort of prepared for a gradual decline in her mobility, especially the back legs but this was so sudden.

Sue, thank you so much. You realise that's the second time you've been able to help reassure me (Remember you posted about how certain dogs hate being in kennels and loose weight, Cassy is one such dog I'm certain)

Thanks, did you know she was born in Czech Republic and both her Mum and Dad lived to be over twelve years so we hope she has a few more years yet.

Thanks Meg.

You've all been very kind, I had noticed that she was sometimes a bit stiff on her back legs and as part of her examination the vet confirmed she has mild arthritus but this vestibular thing came on so quickly.

Two days ago I had never heard of vestibular disease.

We are really hoping I can close this thread tomorrow with news that she is back home.

Poor Rianna and poor you - you must be so worried about her. Good news that she is able to stand now and hopefully she will be back home with you soon. Hugs from Roxy and me xx

YEAY she came home today

Senior partner phoned me at 09:30 to say she was walking and went outside for a wee picked her up at 10:30 classic case of vestibular disease which the vets call ideopathic (causes not known)

It could happen again, we are hoping and praying it won't but at least we'll be better prepared in future.

Once again thanks to all of you for thinking of her. We try not to have 'favorites' but I always think of Rianna as 'my' dog because when we went to choose a puppy there was the breeder lady, her daughter, a women friend, and of course my wife all oohhing and ahing and undecided over the seven puppies, one climbed over the whelping box side and licked my shoe, I said "That's the one" and that's how Rianna came into our lives

Clever Rianna getting better so quickly. Glad she is home and ruling the roost again. I really hope it doesn't happen again, but at least you know what it is now and it isn't quite so scary is it when you've seen it once.
