Whenever I've had dogs that scoff I just feed them a bit at a time, put their food in a bowl and put out of reach and either throw a handful on the floor so they can't scoff it all at once they have to find it first. When that's all gone chuck another handful making sure you scatter it. I also teach them to catch with kibble, so sit, wait, catch one piece and keep it up, it's great practice for them and training and feeding built in. I also get them to lay down, place kibble between their paws and get them to "leave It" until told ok. Tbf there are loads of ways to incorporate feeding and training, just think about the bits he needs practice on.

You are quite right, a tennis ball would be too small for a Rottie. While I shared the theory of a ball in the food bowl what I should have pointed out was that the ball should be an appropriate size for the particular dog in question. Thank you for clarifying!
