Genuine Windows XP

There seem to be a lot of questions about fake versions of Windows XP either Home or Pro.

You get the windows verification tool as part of the windows update feature if you bought your pc from Dell and other major manufactures then they would have installed a genuine copy of Windows Home or Pro on that system (Unless windows has been reinstalled but not using the original COA key).
If how ever you got your pc from your local shop you could well have fallen victim to a fake copy of Windows XP (Not all local shops install fake copies)

If you suspect that you have got a pirated version of XP then the first action to take is to contact the shop concerned. They could offer you to reinstall with a genuine version or give you your money back.

If they do nothing then you got to threaten them with reporting them to Microsoft, Trading Standards, Local press and radio.

I hope that you get your Problems sorted out quickly amnd without fuss.

The difference between XP and the other operating systems that Microsoft have released is that this is the first operating system that Microsoft has actively tying to cut down on the amount of pirate version of their software this is what is catching most back street system builders out when customers go back when they get told that the version that they got is possibly Pirated when they try and update Windows.

If you wish to report a Pirated Version Of XP Home/ Pro

Microsoft really need to look deep inside themselves and start charging a realistic price for their software, maybe then people would feel less pressured to copy it.
