Dry cracked paw

Just wondered if anyone has a miracle cure for dry cracks on paws. Never had this problem before but Mollie went lame yesterday and on checking her paw a small crack we had noticed the day before has become much bigger. Seems just to be very dry which has caused it to crack. No blood or anything just a crack.

My sis uses 'paw wax' on her SBT's paws because she's had probs with dryness and cracking. I think it's easily available in shops and online. No idea if it is very good or if there is anything better.

Dry cracked paws can be due to a zinc deficiency or an auto immune problem or due to salt on the roads in cold weather or walking on very hot roads or pavements.
My greyhound lily suffers with dry cracked pads due to auto immune problem.
I have been told vaseline is the best thing to use and am going to try it on her, also to give them something like Salmon oil in thier food.

I have to be a bit careful with oils in her diet as she had pancreatitis a couple of years ago which is aggrevated by oils/fats.

I think likely cause is salt our council is very fond of the stuff.

I wash their feet when they come in but with her hip she is reluctant to bring her foot up for a wash hense it has only had a cursory rub and this has happened.

Vitamin E capsules, just pierce a capsule and rub it into the pad I think you will notice a difference quite quickly. Brilliant healing qualities in particular for burns as well.

I've always used bag balm http://www.bagbalm.com/

Tynan usually gets cracked pads from the cold. It's always works really well and the container will last forever.

The vit. e makes sense. One of my guys gets cracked nails and it works great for that. Can't see why it wouldn't work on a cracked pad.
