A Dogs Prayer

I hope people dont mind me putting this on but i thought it may help a few people on here.Last september we had to have our jrt pts.My partner was devistated,he had had this dog since he was a child and it was the first pet he had ever had.He really took it hard that he had to be the one to make the decission to have chip pts,my mom sent this to him to try and help, which it did -

If it be i grow frail and weak,
And pain should wake me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For the last battle cannot be won.

You will be sad I understand,
Dont let your grief stay your hand,
For this day more than all the rest,
Your love and friendship stand the test.

Take me where my needs they'll tend,
Only stay with me till the end,
And hold me firm and speak to me,
Untill my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see,
It is a kindness you do for me,
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Do not grieve that it should be you,
Who has to decide this thing to do,
We've been so close,we two,these years,
Dont let your heart hold andy tears.

That is beautiful, we lost my mums Yorkie just before xmas and this has touched me.

I have to admit shedding a tear or two reading this.

Thank you for posting such a lovely poem.
