I must admit, Mouse has several sweaters, hoodies, t-shirts and a Hockey Jersey... however she needs to have warm clothes on when it's cold, and needs protection from the sun when it's hot (she sunburns) She also has booties, only worn when it's frozen, and Doggles (for her extremely sensitive eyes) The rest of the dogs have one coat each, and a pair of booties... though Boo's winter sweater has a monkey face knitted in and ears on the hood! LOL

I figure that I have to put sweaters on them anyway, they might as wll look cute!

Doogles well you learn something new everyday.

Mouse is certainly one cute dog and I must confess also to Missy having one or two coats One for when it gets to wet n wild and the other for when it snows She also has one on order, just cause, we spoil her rotten

Mouse is just a weird little dog, with major issues (including, I recently discovered, an allergy to metal) having to keep t-shirts, sunscreen and doggles on her just adds to her oddball status... really, who has a dog that sunburns and cant stand bright light??

But I love her... even if I've been told she has a face only a mother could love

At the end of the day, dog lovers really are their own worst enemies simply because they love to judge others by their own standards.

Some enjoy dressing up their dogs, many do so for very valid reasons which are not immediately obvious - allergies, depressed immune system and lack of self-regulation in respect of temperature control, lack of coat and even part of therapy as in T-Touch etc.

As I see it, if the owner is happy, the dog is happy and no one, man nor beast, is being hurt by the dog wearing clothes (and often quite the opposite) then it truly doesn't matter what anyone thinks. However, it would be nice to see a bit of tolerance now and then

While ever the dog owning community are at odds with each other, the 'anti-dog brigade' can have a field day

I too think Sara's Mouse a very attractive little person and sympathise with her health issues. When things go wrong with merles they don't go wrong by halves.
I don't automatically throw up when I see dogs with wardrobes,as has been pointed out, clothes are sometimes a necessity and for more reasons than the weather.I also go with the 'if they have to have them they might as well be cute' train of thought. My short coated dogs all have barbour style waxed coats for the worst weather walks, fleeces for cold days, slickers for wet and warmish days and heat reflective cotton ones which were mostly an exercise in wishful thinking!Mary made them and all have embellishments.Nancy, the blue gh,has a pearl bead decoration on one of hers and a diamante trimmed fringe on another. One winter when the boiler was on the blink she knitted them arran and fairisle jumpers.I keep a supply of baby booties for use in the event of cut pads and I wasn't restrained in choosing purely functional design when I bought them.
Nothing wrong with having a giggle with them BUT there is a line in the sand and it's drawn where the dog ceases to be a dog in the mind of its owner and becomes a toy or fashion accessory which is where many chihuahua owners are at.Even when they adore their dogs does the dog ever get to be a dog?
Anyone remember the Peke in the James Herriot books?Much adored to be sure but cruelly treated none the less.Tricki Woo was a baby substitute, not a dog.

I'm totally with people who put on sweaters or coats or booties to protect their dog from the cold and ice. Or in our case, SALT, which can burn their paws. I put booties on Dahlia sometimes.

Ok so she wasn't too thrilled to wear them. LOL But once we got outside and her paws didn't hurt, she got over the humiliation of wearing booties.

Other than that, I'm ok with dressing up a dog for a photo shoot. But just putting clothing on them and walking them around in it? Forget it.
