I have a friend who a six month old German Shepherd. How long should she be walking him for a day?

i work off the the rule 5 minutes for each month of age, my Zeita a GSD is 6 months she has app 30 mins lead work a day and then games and training in house to tire her out

Depends what you mean by walking him. If you mean on lead, on road walking I wouldn't advise more than 20 minutes at one time but if you mean a short road walk then free running/walking in a park/ field where he can limit himself, about 30 to 40 minutes is fine. Just remember at 6 months his hip joints are still maturing.
