I have to agree Brundog, simply stunning scenery up there.
I'm going to Ullapool & then North West Sutherland with OH and Sparky for a week - tent for two nights then Inchnadamph Hotel (Pooch Friendly) for the rest of the week. Great walking country and tremendous wee lochs for fly fishing too. (The fish needn't worry I'm officialy crap with a rod)

We have booked a lodge on the Isle of Mull for September, we are going with some friends so we will have three large dogs between us. There is also a two acre walled garden to the lodge. Sounds ideal, will keep you posted

When I went into PAH the other day there was a good book by Winalot (£8:99) full of dog friendly places, accomodation etc.

Can't find it online but here's something similar:

Click on Live Life to the Full.

Myself and the dogs go at least once, and usually twice, a year to the NW Scottish Highlands. I have stayed in loads of fantastic places.

I tend to choose my holiday cottages from:

www.cottages4u.co.uk

Most of the cottages are dog-friendly and we have taken up to four dogs with us.

This is the cottage that is happy to allow four dogs :-

http://www.westhighlandchalet.co.uk/

If anyone would like specific information on any cottages in the Wester Ross - and more specifically the Lochalsh or Ardnamuchan areas, then I would be more than happy to provide it and photos of the cottages/area.

You can't beat a holiday in the NW Highlands

My mum in law stays in Dumfries and we visit quite regularly.

I can heartily recommend Dumfries and Galloway and outlying areas as dog friendly and child friendly. There are some superb places to visit, forest walks, coastal walks and other attractions.

We have stayed here a few times, lovely people with all the time in the world for children, the owner allows dog walking on his land which is set in beautiful countryside.

If we can't book in there we stay here:

Set beautifully, dog friendly with walks too and in easy distance of some beautiful scenery and wildlife.

I agree, cannot beat the Lake District - packed with more walks than your dog can wag it's tail at and lots of pet-friendly hotels.

Try this link:- http://www.iknow-lakedistrict.co.uk/..._dog_friendly/

Also have to say the Lakes is brill for being dog friendly, not only in accommodation but also activities too.

There's an excellent leaflet you can pick up from tourist information that has dog friendly places you can go to.
