13 yr Retriever mixed Chemo or not

My dog just did numerous test yesterday. X rays ( shows mass) ultrasound ,blood test and liver spleen lymph cytology(3 cytology pending ). A lot of her internal organs are enlarged. It ( cancer, vet made pure liver infection unlikely even though there is a chance) probably started in liver and spreaded to spleen and lump. Got $1500 bill already for regular vet and Hspl specialist visits today (oncologist not avaiable and test result not ready) and chemo hasn't even started.

Specialist said she'd probably go with chemo bz it spreaded already. If do camp can live1-2 more years. Is it true?
I wanna ask if it's worth the time and $? Will the dog be miserable. (My father didn't even survive the first round chemo. My coworkers dog died the next day after surgery).

Is it true that cancer cell spread to many organs and u need cytology on each and every organ? I did 3 today.

Prednisone is not right for my dog bz hers starts probably in liver? I did my research and no vet ever mentioned that to me.

Any suggestion? I will be waiting on line as my dog's pain killer is wearing off about now. can I give her Nutri-vet aspirin today?

Thank u!!!

It's a terrible situation to be in but we can't tell you what you should do. You need to have a frank and honest discussion with your vet, where all the options and all the possible outcomes are set out.

Oh lor, I'm so sorry you are facing this with your poor dog. It's the toughest decision an owner has to face.

What's your dog's quality of life at the moment? I'm assuming she is pain now cos of your mention of painkiller. Will giving her chemo give her any more quality time or will she just be in pain? Chemo is tough on everyone as you know after the experience with your father.

TBH, and I know you don't want to hear this, but I don't think the chemo is going to help at her age. Not for just two more years that most likely are going to be painful.

It is so tough to do but it might be time to let her go.

And you have all my sympathy, whatever decision you make.

Lymphoma is confirmed mid to late stage. Two other cytology tests are still pending. I don't think chemotherapy is a good option at all now. I feel like my dog aged 10 years overnight because of the all the medicines that she's given. her Eye is red and eyelids dropped, which I have never seen before .The question now is should I extend her life?

Only you can answer that question, unfortunately. You know your dog best, you know your dog's quality of life.

It's a very tough decision. The hardest an owner has to make.

Big hugs from me, whatever you decide.
